Stafforshire Hoard saved

Fans of local history, rejoice - the purchase price of £3.3 million has been met, reports the BBC, so the Staffordshire Hoard will stay in the Midlands.

Of course, this isn't yer average 'local history'. This is nationally important (and, what's more, bling) history that has actually been allowed to stay in its local area, rather than being scooped up by London.

Most definitely a triumph for 'the Regions', as Londoners like to call the other 90% of the country! But of course, its there for Londoners too. It's just a short train ride to Birmingham, folks.
